Well, my computer's shot. Yay. Apparently, the pci-e slot is toast, because everytime I put a card in there (tried with two different ones) the computer refuses to even get to POST. To make it even more fun, I'm going to have to order a new motherboard, 'cause there isn't a single shop around here that keeps socket 939 boards in stock anymore. Double yay.

Pretty much, yeah. I thought it was the graphics card at first, which is why I now have a el-cheapo pci-e graphics card (for pci-e values of cheap, which aren't) too many, besides the one I had in the PC before. Turns out, it wasn't the graphics card.

Also, it's not only the pci-e slot, apparently. It just refused to boot now, even with the card off. I was trying to clear the cmos to see if that helped, and it didn't do more than five turns of the fan or so.

Ah, well. The timing's horrible, though. There are things in that computer I really want to get to, and now it can't even boot. I'll have to see if one of the HD enclosures I stopped using because they were a bit wonky have enough juice in them to get to the data.
